Acquisition

MTM sources works by emerging and established artists on the primary and secondary markets, and provides the market analysis that informs each acquisition.
Curation

MTM provides curatorial oversight for residential and corporate settings, with particular attention to historical context and to the dialogue between works and the spaces they occupy.
Logistics

MTM manages each acquisition from payment to installation, including international shipping, tax and AML compliance, and all associated administration.

About

Maria-Theresia Mathisen

Founder

Maria-Theresia Mathisen founded MTM Art Advisory in London in 2018, after more than a decade in the international art market.

Originally from Vienna, she grew up with the artist Ernst Fuchs, an upbringing that introduced her early to artists’ studios, institutional exhibitions and international collectors.

In New York she worked at the Austrian Cultural Forum, US Vogue, Gagosian and Marianne Boesky Gallery, before holding senior positions in London at Marlborough and ARTUNER. She has also led VIP relations for a number of art fairs.

Her advice draws on experience across the primary and secondary markets and in institutional strategy. She has collaborated with numerous galleries such as Almine Rech, Pilar Corrias and Pace.

Castel Caramel

Castel Caramel, an artist residency in the South of France, was founded by Maria-Theresia Mathisen in 2018 as a place for artistic production and critical dialogue. Artists in residence have included Chloe Wise, Korakrit Arunanondchai, Jill Mulleady, Stefanie Heinze, Kylie Manning and many others.
